POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

OLIVIER MAES
Olivier is a postdoctoral researcher in the BIGDATPOL research project and at the Department of Criminology, Criminal Law and Social Law at Ghent University. He holds a PhD in Criminological Sciences (Ghent University, 2024), a MSc in Criminology (Ghent University) and a MSc in the Intelligence and Security Studies (Brunel University).
He completed his doctoral dissertation in 2024 under the guidance of Prof. Hardyns. The dissertation is an in-depth analysis of pro-active European Cash-in-Transit regulation and practices from a situational crime prevention perspective.
Olivier will be a valuable addition to the team thanks to his expertise and future ambitions in cash-in-transit robberies, cybercrime, and
risk analysis.
